First use

Your first session, step by step

1
Step 1

Charge your device

Connect via the included USB-C cable. The LED will pulse while charging and hold solid when full. First charge takes approximately 2 hours. A full charge lasts up to 12 hours of continuous use.

Tip: The device can be used while charging if needed — though we recommend a full charge before your first session.

Step 2

Attach the gel pads to the device

Peel the protective film from the gel pads and press firmly onto the two contact points on the back of the device. Press around the edges to ensure full adhesion. The pads should sit flat with no air bubbles.

Step 3

Peel and position on your skin

Remove the backing from the gel pads and press the device against your lower abdomen, centred just below your belly button. Press firmly for 5 seconds to ensure good contact. The device should sit securely — it's designed to stay put even during light movement.

Tip: For lower back pain (common in the luteal phase), the device can be placed on your lower back instead. The technique is the same.

Step 5

Select your intensity

Use the + and – buttons to cycle through the three modes. Start on Mode 1 and give it 2–3 minutes before moving up. Most people find the most effective relief at Mode 2. Mode 3 is there for heavy pain days.

Tip: You should feel a gentle tingling or pulsing sensation — not pain. If anything feels uncomfortable, reduce the intensity immediately.

Step 6

Wear for 20–60 minutes

A typical session lasts 20–60 minutes. Most users feel noticeable relief within 8–10 minutes. You can use the device multiple times throughout the day — there's no limit on daily use.

Tip: The device will automatically power off after 60 minutes to conserve battery. Simply power back on if you want to continue.

Power off and store

Hold the power button for 2 seconds to power off. Carefully peel the device away from your skin and remove the gel pads. Store both in the soft pouch provided. Gel pads can be reused up to 30 times — keep them on the backing when not in use.

Intensity guide

Which mode is right for you?

Everyone's pain threshold and sensitivity is different. Start low and work up — you'll quickly find your personal sweet spot.

Mode 1Gentle

The starting point

Mode 1 produces a gentle, regular pulse — like a light massage. You'll feel a subtle tingling across your lower abdomen. This is where everyone should start, regardless of pain level.

Best for: first-time users, mild to moderate cramps, continuous background use throughout the day.

The sweet spot

Mode 2 produces a stronger, more noticeable pulse. Most users (94% in our trials) report the most effective pain relief at this level. You'll feel a clear pulsing sensation but no discomfort.

Best for: moderate to heavy cramps, days 1–2 of your period, the majority of everyday use.

Maximum relief

Mode 3 is the strongest setting — a deep, powerful pulse designed for severe pain days. Only use Mode 3 once you're comfortable with Modes 1 and 2. It should feel intense but never painful.

Best for: severe cramps, endometriosis pain, the heaviest day of your cycle. Not recommended as a starting point.

Placement

Where to position the device

Menstrual phase

Lower abdomen

Best for: Menstrual cramps

Centre the device just below your belly button. This is the most common position — directly over the uterus for maximum effect on cramping.

Luteal phase

Lower back

Best for: Back pain & PMS

Place horizontally across the lower back, just above the waistband. Effective for the lower back ache common in the luteal phase and for those whose period pain radiates to the back.

Heavy days

Hip / side

Best for: Radiating pain

For pain that radiates to the hips or thighs, position the device on the side of the hip closest to where the pain is strongest. Use alongside a lower abdomen placement if needed.

Cycle guide

Using Periodt Ease across your cycle

Menstrual · Days 1–5

This is when Periodt Ease is most useful. Use for 20–60 minute sessions, as often as needed. Start on Mode 1 and increase gradually. Many users find Mode 2 or 3 on their heaviest days most effective.

Follicular · Days 6–13

Energy is building but some lower back discomfort can linger. A short 20-minute session on Mode 1 can help with residual cramping. Good time to check your device is charged for your next cycle.

Ovulation · Days 14–16

Minimal cramping for most. Some people experience mittelschmerz (ovulation pain) — Periodt Ease on Mode 1 can help here too. Track it in the app to understand your own pattern.

Luteal · Days 17–28

PMS cramps, lower back pain, and bloating often appear here. Periodt Ease is great for lower back use in this phase — position the device on your lower back rather than your abdomen.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes — TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a well-established, clinically validated method for pain management used in physiotherapy for decades. It is non-invasive, drug-free, and has no known side effects for healthy users. Do not use if pregnant, if you have a pacemaker or heart condition, epilepsy, or active cancer.

Most users (94% in our trials) feel meaningful pain reduction within 8–10 minutes of starting a session at Mode 2. Some feel relief faster — occasionally within 2–3 minutes. If you haven't felt any effect after 15 minutes, try moving up to Mode 2 or adjusting the device position.

We don't recommend sleeping with Periodt Ease in use. The device auto-powers off after 60 minutes, but we suggest not relying on this overnight. Use before bed if needed, then remove before sleeping.

Periodt Ease is a standalone device — the gel pads and settings are designed specifically for period pain relief. Other TENS devices may use different pad specifications or intensities. Stick with Periodt Ease pads for best results.

Mild redness where the pads sit is common and usually fades within 30 minutes after removing the device. This is a normal skin reaction to the electrical current. If the redness is severe, persists for more than an hour, or is accompanied by pain or blistering, stop use and consult a healthcare professional.

Yes — there's no recommended limit on daily use. Many users use Periodt Ease for multiple 20–60 minute sessions per day during their heaviest pain days. The device auto-powers off after 60 minutes; simply restart for another session if needed.
